There can be many sizes and shapes of cooker's , also lots of safety requirements to fit a new Gas cooker. To save you unnecessary hassle if you are unsure we offer a pre-advise service by a gas cooker fitter and for your gas hob and oven installation. We can visit your property and advice you on your new appliance requirements, for a small fee £20. This will take the hassle out of shopping as you will be able to go out and get the right Gas cooker the first time from any retailer you choose and then our Corgi plumber in Leeds will fit your new appliance for you.

Gas Cooker Fitting Requirements

Installing takes a minimum of (1) hour to fit an appliance correctly with no extra copper pipe work involved. Here is a list of things we have to do to fit your cooker correctly.

1. Gas leak test (tightness test) firstly to make sure no Gas escapes exists in the property, if there is we find it and cap it off.
2. Ensure all safety clearances are correct, height & width to manufactures instructions & British Standards. To fit your appliance where you the customer wants it.
3. Fit a new cooker hose BS 669 part 1 1989 for your new cooker appliance. We can supply this if you haven't got one. The hose must be in a loop from the cooker and not touch the floor also nothing hot around it. The cooker bonnet must be around 650mm off your floor and secure.
4. Make sure the cooker is level for even cooking and safety.
5. Fix a stability bracket, or safety chain on all free standing cookers, this is a requirement to stop the cooker from toppling over in case of injury.
6. Gas leak test (tightness test) to make sure no gas escapes exists when your new appliance is fitted
7. Test all safety devices on the newly fitted appliance and then test all controls on appliances to make sure they are in safe operating order
8. A visually inspect on every gas appliance in the property, boilers, fires, cookers. This includes any gas appliance on the gas supply in your property. We will relight appliances as needed. This is a visual inspection only to check they are working properly. This is required by statutory legislation.

9. Fill in all paper work for your safety Certification and also register your appliance with Corgi Certification.

   From the 1st of April 2005 ALL Gas appliances fitted in a property have to be registered with Corgi gas , this costs time and money for the gas fitter. Only Corgi Gas installers are approved to install Gas cookers & appliances. Go to facts & tips on the side toolbar for more advise on this
