FITTING GAS APPLIANCES
From the 1st of April 2005 ALL Gas appliances that are fitted in a property old or new appliances have to be registered with the Corgi gas registration authority. Only Corgi Gas installers are approved to install Gas appliances and are able to apply for registration of the appliance.
COOKER'S IN FLATS
From the 1st January to comply with new gas safety regulations no corgi gas engineer is allowed to fit a gas appliance in a multi dwelling i.e. flats unless it has an FSD on every burner. That means on the Hob rings as well. (FSD) Flame Supervision Devices. You might already have a cooker in your flat but this will now be classed as not the current standard. However provided it is fitted and checked yearly with the issue of the correct safety certificates it does not need to be changed.

WHAT ABOUT CORGI ID CARDS
Don't be ashamed or embarrassed to ask to see it. It is you right to see it and you need to protect your self and family against the rogue traders. Just because the company looks Big. A BIG organisation doesn't mean they are all that they should it just looks like they have the certificates. You must ask to see the fitters Corgi ID card to verify he is able to do the work required. same with a small company's or someone who has done work for you for years. The gas laws change every year, and to do a proper safe job we need to know (How).
How many times have I heard this. "my PLUMBER said it was ok last year?" did he fit it. "yes" Has he got a corgi."think so" then I say ok here is a bill for £xxxxx to make it safe to use it my have killed you.
CORGI ID CARD CHECK LIST
- Expiry date on the front it has to be renewed every year.
- Check the id picture that it is the person in front of you.
- On the Back of the card
- A list of appliances they can work on in your home and there certification, like boilers, fires, cookers, warm air units etc
- BE SAFE AND SAVE MONEY.
- Get it right the first time
- NO CORGI ID CARD / DOWENT LET THEM WORK IN YOUR HOME .....

However provided it is fitted and checked yearly with the issue of the correct safety certificates it does not need to be changed.
Remember House insurance & contents insurance is invalid without proof of installation by a registered corgi fitter if any claim occurs. Keep you and your investment and family safe use BS Plumbing & Heating.
